Anita Saarkessian

Anita Sarkeesian was born in Canada but grew up in the US. She's worked as an editor since the year 1995. Feminist Frequency is a channel that hosts videos, commentaries and analysis of how popular culture depicts women. Anita Sarkeesian a Canadian American media critic. Feminist Frequency is a site for education that examines women's positions in the pop culture narratives It is the brainchild of Anita Sarkeesian. The site also has the executive director. Dispelling stereotypes of women is her primary goals. But, she also explores the issue of targeted harassment against women online as well as other communities that have been excluded. Sarkeesian holds a York University master's in social philosophy, political and philosophical thinking. Alongside being an acclaimed public speaker, she has given speeches at the TEDxWomen The XOXO Conference as well as the United Nations Broadband Working Group. She has been interested in gender issues and feminism since a young age. In 2009, while in university, she created the Feminist Frequency web site. In 2009, the ebullient young lady was harassed online for launching a website featuring a series about gender and videogames. This attack didn't stop her from pursuing the project, and instead it bolstered the determination of feminist media critic. Her numerous contributions to the field of feminists were recognized by a variety of prizes. Anita Sarkeesian was a multi-award winning journalist. She also serves as the founder and director of Feminist Frequency a nonprofit educational organization that explores pop culture gender representations.
